Meet Ben Rue, your new favorite country singer

You don't have to be a country music fan (yet) to love Ben Rue. His positive attitude and incredible talent are winning over people everywhere. And chances are you've heard his song, "I Can't Wait (Be my Wife)" at a wedding this year.

But long before he was a popular member of the Nashville country music scene, Ben learned to live with type 1 diabetes.

"Since the age of 14, I've been living with type 1 diabetes," explains Ben. "Long nights on the road have become daily routine for me, so it's important to have something I can rely on. I've started using the Accu-Chek® Aviva Connect meter, which sends all of my numbers to my phone."

Ben recently visited Roche Diabetes Care in Indiana, where he toured a test strip manufacturing facility and attended volunteer night at a nearby diabetes camp. A former camper himself, Ben enjoyed the opportunity to meet and sing with the kids.

We're proud to have partnered with Ben to get the word out about the Accu-Chek Connect system. After all, Ben knows better than anyone how overwhelming it can become to log numbers, count carbs and calculate insulin. Having a system that does all that automatically is a great help—especially when he's on the road.

"Having type 1 diabetes and touring the country to sing, I have to be careful about what I eat and drink, and make sure I check my blood sugar regularly," adds Ben. "Fortunately, the Accu-Chek Connect system automatically logs my numbers and lets me access them straight from my phone no matter where I am."
