Zest

​Zest is a happy word—it's even fun to say. Some people naturally have a zest for life, but it can also be cultivated. Foster zest by indulging your senses and enjoying little pleasures.

  • Take the scenic route. You could get there faster another way, but isn't a great view worth leaving a little early?
  • Follow your nose. Smell every candle, hand soap and box of tea until you find what excites you. After all, what's a better way to start the day—the shampoo you got on sale or the one you love to breathe in? (Bonus if you love it and it's on sale.)
  • Turn up the music. Create a few playlists or find an online channel you truly enjoy. Embrace those guilty pleasures when they come on the radio—we all have them.
  • Savor every bite. Slow down and enjoy your meals without distraction. This may raise the bar on what you want to eat, but mindful eating is part of living with zest, too.
