True Stories of Success

Real people. Real challenges. Real users of ACCU-CHEK® products.

Eric

Busy father with a long-term view

Type 1 pumper

Diagnosed: When he was 20.

Preferred system: The ACCU-CHEK meter that the hospital gave to him.

Preferred testing site: Fingertips. After 20 years of testing, he's glad that the new lancet devices and lancets are smaller and less painful. (The ACCU-CHEK Softclix Plus and ACCU-CHEK Multiclix lancet devices, for example, have been proven least painful.1)

Exercise program: Eric varies his, but makes sure to exercise regularly. He uses the treadmill and stair machines at the gym, plays softball, bowls, plays tennis and racquetball, and swims.

Work advice: Eric's job as a payroll director is very stressful. But over the years, he's learned that keeping his blood sugar under control helps keep stress in check, too.

Family resemblance: A few years after Eric was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes, the family found out that his father had type 2. Now his mom has it, too. The whole family benefits from what they learned early on about Eric's self-care.

Why he makes self-care a priority: Eric wants to see his newborn son graduate college. There's no greater motivation than that.
