Children with Diabetes: Caring for Pre-Schoolers
You've done everything you can to ensure a safe, happy environment for your baby - so how did diabetes come into the picture? And what does this mean for your child's future?
Diabetes can affect anyone at any age. While having a family member with diabetes may increase a person's risk of developing type 1 diabetes, it isn't your fault. And it isn't the result of anything you've done or not done. So even though it's natural to wonder, there's no reason to feel guilt or place blame. Besides, diabetes doesn't have to stop anyone from fulfilling all their hopes and dreams.
Having diabetes does mean that you and your child will have additional responsibilities over the years, but that doesn't have to diminish your child's quality of life. In fact, the added self-discipline may work in your child's favor.
