Diabetic Exercise and Blood Sugar Effects

For the most part, food raises your blood sugar and diabetes medications and exercise lower your blood sugar. When exercising, your muscles use glucose (blood sugar) for energy. Insulin circulating in the bloodstream allows this process to happen. So, when you are getting ready to exercise, you need to make sure that your food intake and medication have been modified to keep your blood sugar at a level that provides you with the energy you need.
