Sick Day Plan
Keep your blood sugar under control when you're ill.

When To Eat

Insulin pumps and rapid-acting insulins are providing many people with greater flexibility in choosing mealtimes. But knowing when to eat can be as important a part of your meal plan as what you eat.

Generally speaking, you should plan to eat every four to five hours while you're awake. This gives your blood sugar time to come down between meals, without letting it get too low. Your dietitian will work with you to create a daily schedule that works well for your carbohydrate needs and your lifestyle.

Eating on a regular schedule, even if you're traveling or going out for dinner, can help you keep your blood sugar as stable as possible, and you feeling your best.
