Technical information about the ACCU-CHEK Voicemate system:

Coding your blood glucose meter

Before you use your system for the first time and every time you open a new vial of test strips, you need to code the system. The ACCU-CHEK Voicemate system is coded automatically using the code key found with each new vial of test strips.

•  Turn system off.
•  Empty vial reader.
•  Remove old code key if installed.
•  Insert new code key into slot in the voice unit, pushing gently until it snaps into place.

Setting the time and date

Setting the time and date enables the meter to log the time and date of each test that you perform. The time and date will be reported with each test result when you listen to results stored in the meter's memory.

You may choose not to set time and date. This does not affect the test results. However, you will hear, "Time and date not set" each time you turn the system on.

Testing

Turn the system on. You'll hear, "Insert strip." Remove a test strip from the vial and insert it into the strip slot. You'll hear, "Strip inserted, apply blood," followed by a beep.

Touch and hold drop of blood to the edge of the curved test strip. The blood is quickly and automatically pulled into the strip. Fill the yellow window completely with blood. In about 26 seconds, you will hear the result. It will automatically be recorded in the system's memory.

Proper blood application

Prick the side of your fingertip with the ACCU-CHEK Softclix lancet device. Gently squeeze finger to obtain a drop of blood.

Touch drop of blood into the middle of the ACCU-CHEK Comfort Curve test strip on the right edge. The blood is automatically drawn into the test strip. Do not place blood on top of the test strip.

Move fingertip back and forth along the ACCU-CHEK Comfort Curve test strip. An adequate sample is applied once the entire yellow window is filled with blood.

If yellow window is not completely filled, apply more blood to edge of same strip within 15 seconds of applying the first drop.

Identifying a vial of insulin

•  Turn system on. You'll hear, "Insert strip."
•  Press Reader button. You'll hear, "Insert insulin vial and rotate."
•  Remove protective cap from insulin vial.
•  Insert vial of Lilly-brand insulin into vial reader.
•  Rotate vial in either direction. You'll hear, "Vial detected. Reverse rotate."
•  Rotate vial in opposite direction. Listen for type of Lilly-brand insulin.
•  Remove vial.
•  Press Reader button again to identify another vial. Or continue with blood test.

100-value memory

The ACCU-CHEK Voicemate system automatically stores 100 blood sugar results, allowing you to review them in order from the most recent to the oldest. The most recent result is stored as "memory value 1," and the oldest result is stored as "memory value 100." If a new result is added, the oldest result is deleted. To listen to your values:

•  Once the system is on and you have heard "Insert strip," press the Memory button (MEM).
•  You will hear the result of the first test in memory, "Memory value 1: Result is 104 mg/dL."
•  To hear and see the results of other tests in memory, press the MEM button again.
•  To exit, press the Repeat button and Memory button at the same time.
